Dr. Natalya Romaniv is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery. She uses the latest phacoemulsification techniques for cataract surgery, and has experience with toric and multifocal intraocular lens implants to eliminate the need for glasses after surgery. She also performs eyelid surgery and glaucoma surgery including the latest Ex-Press minishunt device to lower eye pressures.
Dr. Romaniv was born in Ukraine and grew up in Chicago, and later earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago. She attended Washington University in St. Louis for her M.D. degree. Dr. Romaniv then spent one year as a research fellow at the University of Utah studying innovative intraocular lens designs used in cataract surgery, and won multiple awards for her work. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
Dr. Romaniv has an interest in international ophthalmology, and recently travelled with the International Vision Volunteers to Zambia in Africa to provide free eye care and surgery. She is fluent in English and Ukrainian as well as conversational in Russian and Spanish. Dr. Romaniv provides medical and surgical eye care to patients in Rockford and Freeport, Illinois.
